1963 Models



For 1963, Indiana's Elcar Mobile Homes presented a 10 by 50 footer with something extra!

Expandable house trailers had been introduced in the early 1940s. At the time, an 8-wide unit would have had one or two sections. One might extend out from the front and another off of the back. When fully extended, the trailer coach would form a 17 or 23-foot-wide abode. In 1952, the first "pull out room" mobile home made its debut. The Elcar EZ EXTENDO EXPANDA-ROOM rig for 1963 had two such 4 by 10 extensions; one attached to the kitchen, the other to the living room. The only problem with this type of mobile home was that it was prone to leaks...
